Not Quite Like the Rest of the Herd

Have you ever felt like you didn't fit the same mold everyone else seemed to be poured into? You're not alone.

Most of us have those moments... when we want to fit in. We may change the way we look, the way we dress, the way we behave and maybe even alter our beliefs to try and be like everyone else.

It is natural to want to be accepted. It is part of our make up to seek connections, find our people and be a part of something bigger than just ourselves.

The feeling to fit in and be like all the other pieces of this puzzle of life come from societal pressures and the culture we live in. We may feel as though we have to conform to get along, be accepted or be successful.

However, Diversity in the herd gives it strength. In fact, nature depends on a diverse ecosystem in order to sustain and grow. Humans need diversity as well to thrive as well, although it may not always feel welcome.

It is the so called 'odd balls, misfits and even outcasts' that change the way the rest of the world sees. The magic, beauty and healing comes from thinking differently.

It is the courage to bring one's visions, dreams, talents and inventions to light, in spite of all the nay-Sayers, rejections, denials, threats, obstacles, guilt, pain and fear.

A note on fear, it is our own fear, that stops us more than anyone or anything else. We have such a short time on this planet, so do whatever it takes to move past your fear and become YOU.

'"A life lived in fear, is a life half lived"

Where would the world be without the S. Truth's, E. Warren's, D. Doss's, M. Gandhi's, M. L. King's, M. Angelou's, V. Van Gogh's, S. Kubrick's,  J. K. Rowling's, J. Child's, H. Keller's, Bell Hook's,  A. Einstein's, G. Steinem's and so many others who brought their talents, visions and dreams to light.

Be bold. Be brave. Be who you are meant to be.

You are a genuinely unique, fully embodied person, capable and full of possibilities; the world is waiting for you to become you.
